I Took It Took

What?
Not drinking?

Ever?

You are joking, aren’t you?

It took me many attempts at moderation to finally realise that.

‘What’s the point in just 1 glass? ‘

It took up so much of my head-space that it nearly took my head. I thought I was going crazy. Alcohol turned me into some wild banshee.

It nearly took my marriage. Who would want to live with me …. The drunk me?

He didn’t.
He’s told me so since.

It took my self-respect, my control, and my freedom.

It could have taken my career, my driving licence and my life .

Thankfully, I took control back. I found an online community to support me. Thank God I took that step. I never looked back. It took a lot of stopping and starting and it took a lot of determination and strength.

I take time now for me.

I’ve taken my self respect back and my control and my freedom.

I will never let alcohol rob me of those ever.

On this wonderful day I pray that you’ll have the strength to not allow booze to take anything from you.

Join me in starting today, if you need to .

Join me in continuing today to take in the joy of sobriety and the joy of belonging to this wonderful community.

We invite you to muse!
