BOOM Community Rethink the Drink
Thoughts from the BOOM Community Members
Boom is a rare, donations-based, private on-line support community where members can choose to be anonymous or not. The format is very user-friendly, members post, and because of the layout, itโs easy to get to know other folks and both receive support and provide it. Boomโs members post everything long and short, the good the bad and the in-between. It is an open-minded community, some members are also in AA, others not, all denominations are welcome. Members are from all walks of life, based all over the world, yet it still feels like a close-knit family. Some people come here to think it through, some to moderate and some looking to stop altogether. Some people are on day 1, some have many years of sobriety. Come check us out if you want to Rethink the Drink Xx

This site has such integrity, isn’t cliquey, is non judgemental, supportive and the right level of friendly, thank you โค
It feels a safe space to work through things for people.
Come join us in the BOOM Community Rethink the Drink
I read the Boozemusings article Walking away from the Wine o’ clock Routine on Facebook. It seemed to relate to me as a mum and it was a colourful image that I found empowering.
I joined because it mentioned moderation not just sobriety.
I have recommended BOOM to others because this site seemed different. There was no hard sell approach to commit to anything. It is just a lovely non judgemental group of people committed to keeping the site that way. It’s very welcoming and friendly but you can post or not as you need to as often or as infrequently as you choose. There is no pressure.
I haven’t been on any other sobriety forums but my husband has and he said they can be quite judgemental and critical. This site definitely isn’t like that.
It’s like having friends in your pocket to support you, all you need to do is get out your phone and send a post and the odds are someone will be awake in the world ready to help or at least listen and that can sometimes mean everything x

Boom is more than a web site……It is more than a form of recovery based social media. It is more than words in comment boxes on a computer screen….. Boom greets you with open arms and an open heart. The creator has woven warmth and life into its digital pixels. The love and dedication to this site can be felt whenever the Boom community lights up your screen. It is truly human…..A good friend on a dark night……

I made it through the big 40th birthday party! There was so much booze but also flavored seltzer and great food and so many people that the friend who usually keeps my glass filled was too busy. It was amazing to attend a whole evening without getting fuzzy. I did glance longingly at the wine once but really it was nothing. Now I am up before my family with some REAL me Time! Thank you so much for this community. I have been looking for something like this for a long long time.

This platform is cozy, relatable and has a strong fellowship feel. It’s as close to an AA meeting, without the stigma some people dislike, as you can get. Personally I donโt go to AA but I believe their principal that alcoholism is the dark night of the soul and the sober journey is about stepping into the light and wherever one or more of you are gathered in his name there is love.

Boom is everything I want and need, just like a family ought to be. Here with support and no judgement, no matter where you are on your journey. Couldn’t do without the people on here x

No matter where you are in your journey, BOOM is here to support you. This community really wants its members to succeed. When one succeeds, we all feel *hope*. When one stumbles, we all understand and feel the pain. No judgment. Just support.

โJoining this community has in no doubt been the single most important aspect of my getting through the trials and tribulations of sobriety. I had no idea when I joined the impact it would have.โ

It is through BOOM that this second journey of sobriety has become something entirely different from the first one. I was looking for my tribe to not struggle alone with the cravings and the voices in my head that called for the booze and I have found this group that is supportive, encouraging, funny and tender. It is through connecting to others that the addiction loosens itโs grip. There is always somebodyโs comment or post there that inspires or supports me even in moments that have been more difficult. I am on day 200 today thanks to this group and my heart is filled with gratitude for the many invisible friends here!

For me, BOOM is a great asset in attaining your goals for an improved life….with or without alcohol. Many Boomers are facing their booze overindulging issues head on. Some, too, are attempting to learn how to reduce or control their intake. It really doesn’t matter where you are on the drinker spectrum. There’s somebody here who has been there too.
Give BOOM a try. What could you lose? Except perhaps to learn how to break a damaging habit, lose some weight, improve your health and personal relationships, regain a great life, perhaps. It’s all up to you what you give and take from this fabulous community. โคโคโคโคโคโคโคโคโค

I’m elderly. I’m tired. I’m sober though. Thank you my mighty Boomer Buddies! Love this safe haven for folks sick of feeling hungover, tired and generally lethargic from self poisoning.๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐

On 1st May 2015, I crawled onto google, severely depressed, anxious and grief stricken (had lost both brothers the previous 5 years), with a big booze problem. I found a community called hellosundaymorning, and then one of its most supportive members founded BOOM.
It’s an amazing, healing place where we are free to ask questions, post about what scares us and delights us in the Alcohol Free life. No paid bloggers, no ads., just authentic and real experience and love. And when we do meet, we’re just as genuine. A remarkable place – I’m proud to be part of the tribe!

I came across BOOM on Facebook and I am so glad I did. Everyone is so friendly, helpful and non judgmental. I also feel like I belong here and have no problem talking about things. I would highly recommend this online community.
I had been Alcohol-Free for some time and attended groups but they are only held every two weeks. Previously I tried AA but it wasnโt for me. To maintain my sobriety I knew I needed to have regular support. I guess I wanted something that was going to be available 24/7 if needed.
During Alcohol Awareness Week in Northern Ireland, we made flyers for BOOM and had them on stalls at our local hospital to give as part of the Public Health Agency promotion. That’s how confident I am in this site and the help and support offered โค๏ธ

The people on BOOM are amazing…honest, open, respectful, supportive. I would not have made it this far without them. I was hesitant to send that initial email asking to join as I felt so vulnerable, alone and afraid to share. Thank God I did!

Boom has had a boomerang effect on my life! Itโs been a steadfast community where I can shed all of the grief caused in my life by alcohol. No judgements, not one little innuendo, just pure support with loving suggestions and encouragement. We can do this, we are all here with one common thread, we want something better! Thank you to all of my pals here:)

I like BOOM because it is growing and with that comes a myriad of different thoughts. We have people from day 1, too day 100, too day 1,000 and beyond. There is something/someone for everyone here ๐

I joined after reading the Boozemusings article Simple Solutions to Beat the Binge Drinking Routine .
Iโd made the decision to quit drinking after many days on the road of business travel and heavy evening / night drinking. My last night was especially bad and I knew I could never, ever return to drinking.
I was truly miserable, in an airport, very hung over (lasted for days), and wanted to join AA or something online. Preferably online, since I travel a lot. I knew that I would need daily support for a long time.
This article had the exact answers I was seeking. I really wanted a day by day blow of what was coming. It took a long time for me to start feeling better, and I just combed over each day.
Once I joined I found fantastic support, outpouring of love and understanding, and tons of resources and reading material. I read for hours every day. Canโt thank Boom enough, but it was 100% that Boozemusings article for me.

As someone fairly new to Boom it didnโt take long to realise it is a special place to heal, learn and gain huge insight and kind support. A selfish part of me doesnโt want to share it now that Iโve found it ๐ Xx

“BOOM is a great community of people, all looking to Change their Lives. Most think it’s just finding a healthy relationship with booze, but after some days, clarity emerges: I want to change my LIFE.”

“Boom is a warm, inviting place to explore the why’s and howโs of alcohol in my life. A place to learn and receive encouragement from a non-judgemental group who have shared many of the same experiences and who UNDERSTAND. A place to contemplate the bigger picture of who we are and who we want to become. A place to laugh and cry and above all a place to come to in times of need.”

Without this site I wouldnโt be the person I am today . No one ever judges . I feel safe here to open up & talk about things Iโve never spoken a word to before . Thatโs freedom
