It was just over 4 years ago now that I took my first day off work because of a hangover. I was broken and full of self-disgust and a sense of utter helplessness. How had my drinking gotten so out of control? It seriously wasn’t fun anymore – and hadn’t been for quite some time.
In a nutshell, the witching hour is most likely a sign of low blood glucose (hypoglycaemia) rather than some psychological weakness or failing. So, fix the hypoglycemia and the cravings will go away. They do anyway after some time alcohol free, which could be because the hypoglycemia’s been fixed or because the liver has returned to normal, or both.
