The Cardboard Box
Read more: The Cardboard BoxLast night, while cleaning out a storage room, I found my life. It was in a dust covered cardboard box on a forgotten shelf in a room I seldom enter. The box was worn and torn at the corners and the tape meant to hold it together had lost its grip and was peeling away…

The Key is Endurance
Read more: The Key is EnduranceEvery time you stop, you learn a little more about what sober is. So tonight I stopped in at a local grocery store to get a few things. It’s the freestanding kind that has a liquor store in it. The thought of going in to buy alcohol didn’t cross my mind, any more than walking…

Breaking the Spell of Wine o’Clock
Read more: Breaking the Spell of Wine o’ClockI think that it was the author Lucy Rocca who coined the term Wine Witch. Belle, who writes the blog Tired of Thinking about Drinking, came up with a malevolent wine o’clock voice named Wolfie. In the Rational Recovery program, the smiling assassin’s Drink Now voice is called The Feast Beast. And indeed, what I…

Jesus had been in the desert for 40 days, praying and preparing, knowingly, for his death. He was tempted many times by the devil, but pushed away wealth, power and status,…

Alcohol Cravings and Hypoglycemia

I used to think this was just because it was a habit to have a drink after a long day. We ‘deserved’ a drink and so had…

“It was a random day of internet searching that brought me to Boozemusings Blog and to Boom Community, and my life has been changed by it. I needed some kind of “epiphany” for a mind change, and I have learned things about alcohol and its physical effects that have given me that kind of enlightenment. I check in several times a day and it is like meeting with my family. The resources here are incredible, and inexhaustible. I have quit lit books, etc. Will check out some of the other resources in others’ responses, but for me, Boom has been the answer. I feel it has to do with the tireless work of Boom’s creators. Thank you, Boom!!!!!!!”
