I know you’re suffering depression
Because you just can’t seem to stop
But you asked for tough love
Hit you hard?
Tell it like it is?
Ok let’s try
On alcohol you’re not ok
You wouldn’t be here if you were anyway
You say you can’t resist
You’re an addict
But plenty have been where you are
They struggled like hell
and recovered far
They haven’t given in completely to alcohol’s call
They got up each time they had cause to fall
You can do it too
But it’s up to you
The support is here
And posting regularly helps
Let it all out
There’s nothing to fear
Your body can only take so much abuse
Then it will get to the point it’ll be of no use
Imagine sitting on a hospital bed
Full of dread
“We’re so sorry
Nothing can be done” the Drs said
You’ll probably die soon
Are you comfortable in your hospital room?
Tough Love !
Do you really want to end up that way?
When you could choose now to recover
and make it okay?
You know there’s lots to stick around for
You have the power to change things so please do it now
Before it could be changed for you
I’ll leave you with a final thought on this subject
I strongly suspect
That if you are still turning to the poisonous toxin
And drinking it quite regularly
You certainly ain’t thinking rationally
With more sobriety
Will come perspective you see
And less anxiety
When you feel more free in this way
The alcohol addict voice will have less power over you
And less say
If you’re “sober curious” … If you are drinking too much too often and want to stop or take a break…or if you have stopped drinking and are trying to stick to sober! Talk to Us.
We are an independent, anonymous and private community who share resources, support and talk it through every day. It helps to have a community behind you in a world where alcohol is the only addictive drug that people will question you for NOT using
This poem was composed by Floss The author of The Runaway Train and many more poems that have helped her stick to sober one expressed rather than swallowed word at a time
