Ice and Fire Fists time to give up the booze

Time is Finite Don't Dumb Down Without a Fight

Is it time to give up the Booze?

The thing is no-one can do it for us
We can’t hire someone to live our lives
They won’t know how we feel inside

Our life is ours
To make the most of
Or numb away the hours
But time is finite, right ?

So do we want to dumb down without a fight?
If you want to give up the booze
Don’t let life pass you by
Do something soul giving not soul destroying tonight

You’ll never know how great sober can be
If you don’t really try it out fully

Don’t let booze sully emotions that are pure and real
Isn’t it really a gift to feel?
Your life shouldn’t be a movie reel

It’s time to give up the booze and feel

You get to interact
And make a difference that’s a fact
But to do that we have to care
And to show that we do we have to really be there

If we’re going to be here in this moment
Shouldn’t we really be here in this moment?
Shouldn’t we own the moments we experience
To grow from them, learn from them,
React to them, enact them,
Really live them?

If some moments are too distressing we can walk away
Or distract and face them another day
It’s not about causing more pain
But learning to dance when it’s pouring with rain
And building ourselves back up
Ready to fight again

Don’t let apathy for yourself exist within you
You matter, you definitely do
So isn’t it time you mattered to yourself too? ❤

Maybe it’s time to give up the booze.

What advice would you give our Newbies about those first 30 or 40 days? What do you remember about the early sticking points ?

Early sobriety is so so difficult I am having a very difficult time maintaining motivation. I am one of those who “never reached rock bottom.”?

What made you *realize* that you had “crossed the line” and had a very serious alcohol problem?

Do you really PROMISE it’s better on the other side? Swear?
