Keep Coming Back

You’re never ready until you’re ready. It took me a lot of stopping & starting. Slipping & sliding. I joined a community like this 5 years ago having just read High Sobriety by Jill stark. What an eye-opener. And I thought I was the only one struggling with daily drinking, hiding, sneaking & lying .

I loved the support. The stories that I could relate to. There were many that I couldn’t relate to …….

Alcohol-Free.

What do you mean?? You don’t drink at all! In my ignorance, I actually thought that was weird. Not for me. No sireee!! What nothing ?? No alcohol, ever ???

You see, me? Well I didn’t really have a problem!! I just needed to reign it in a bit didn’t I?

Moderate. That’s it ! I could go a few days without and feel like a winner.

I would read stories every day. I would sip my wine & still read stories . What I didn’t realise was that my daily connection online was having a drip, drip effect on my relationship with the alcohol terrorist.

The blackouts. The falls. The tension. The crying. The stitches. The bruises.

Slowly, I could see alcohol in a different light. It was robbing me of happiness and exchanging joy for anxiety. I’d become greedy. I’d become a liar & a cheat. Slowly, alcohol was chipping away at me.

My life. I wasn’t happy. I was numbing. I was a sad, lost soul.

That AF tribe that I’d thought so foreign were pulling me closer. I met some of this amazing tribe in person . Those meet ups were life changing and I’m eternally grateful. Grateful to be here now surrounded by you awesome warriors.

It’s ok if you’re not there yet. Please do not be intimidated by us alcohol free peeps. We totally get it. We were there.

We were right where you are now.

Keep coming back, whatever you do.

We care and we want this for you.

No one said this would be easy.
