Sunrise Perspective from a Newly Sober Mum

Sunrise Perspective from a Newly Sober Mum

Not waking up with a hangover
Makes dealing with things much smoother

It’s 6am

“Mum I’m hearing noises in my room!”
Ok son hang on, I just need the bathroom

Stumbling in the dark on the landing then standing
Bleary eyed and tired

“Mum”
Yes babe
“I have a nosebleed too
From picking it but don’t be mad”
Ok we’ll sort it out no need to be sad

Back to bed and hubby says he knows best

Erm right, did YOU do the first aid test?
Feel free to take over I’ll go back to sleep

Free from the hangover I don’t miss
I contentedly gave my son a kiss
Then we both settled down in warm cozy bliss
Glad the wine last night
I chose to resist
So relieved to not feel a mess

It’s times like this
when you’re woken up fast
I think alcohol you can kiss my a$$!

What does Courage mean to you? Does it take courage to stop drinking? Why?

and we’re there to help with answers to these as well

What advice would you give our Newbies about those first 30 or 40 days? What do you remember about the early sticking points ?

Early sobriety is so so difficult I am having a very difficult time maintaining motivation. I am one of those who “never reached rock bottom.”?

What made you *realize* that you had “crossed the line” and had a very serious alcohol problem?

Do you really PROMISE it’s better on the other side? Swear?
