Turning Wrong into Right

Parenting without wine time

Parenting a challenged child, without the crutch of wine-time, is about understanding the power of simply taking it one day at a time.

Don’t worry so much about the future
Just focus on being present today

About turning to alcohol?
Try not to be swayed!
Or the future…
probably won’t be ok

What you are able to gently teach
Is a factor in how far you’ll be able to reach

Be calm and plant positive seeds
That’s what they need
Not rebuttals or feeling unloved

For now darling
Just keep on using kid gloves
He’ll get there
His feelings he’ll more easily share

When you “turn on him” too
In his perception
He fears he’s lost you

Don’t let him lose you properly to booze
Or you know
You’ll both lose

Perhaps a few tweaks here and there
Are what he needs to know you care
That could make the difference everywhere

Someone he can turn to
Who’s always there
Who’ll sit in the dark with him
When there’s no light anywhere

You’ll find a torch
That you can both share
Then turn on its light
And continue to fight

Trying not to go wrong
But you see
To turn wrong into right
Love, you have to stay strong

If you’re “sober curious” …If you are drinking too much too often and want to stop or take a break…come check out our community BOOM Rethink the Drink on the Mighty Networks app We are an independent, anonymous and private community who share resources, support and talk it through every day. Ask Yourself these questions ( you’ll find our answers inside BOOM at the linked titles)

If you can think of one thing that scares you, or scared you most about sobriety what would it be ?

What does Courage mean to you? Does it take courage to stop drinking? Why?

and we’re there to help with answers to these as well

What advice would you give our Newbies about those first 30 or 40 days? What do you remember about the early sticking points ?

Early sobriety is so so difficult I am having a very difficult time maintaining motivation. I am one of those who “never reached rock bottom.”?

What made you *realize* that you had “crossed the line” and had a very serious alcohol problem?

Do you really PROMISE it’s better on the other side? Swear?
