100 days sober Part 2!

I’m “Walking Away From Wine O’clock”

This time with more conviction
Because we’re all worth so much more
Than the misery of addiction!


No More Blinkers

Sitting here thinking but definitely not drinking
Wondering what if I’d not found you
If I’d never clicked on that link to Boom
What then?
But I think “Walking Away From Wine O’clock ” found me
And as I read it over 2yrs ago
I sighed with relief

A way to reset, moderate or stop
I’d probably be drinking every night now if not
Most likely for sure
If kind people here hadn’t helped me not to pour

ODAAT I learned why wine ain’t fine
Until now I don’t want it anymore
Alcohol is no treasure
Not in any measure
It causes pain
Each story is the same
But different

I dunno
My friends would defend their right to keep drinking
But are they blinkered though and are they really thinking?
If they stopped for a while would they realise it’s a drug?
Would they also feel the violence of the alcohol thug?

Would they see booze as a bully
Be aware of it’s true nature
Or just think they had a bad day
And see alcohol as their saviour ?

When I said ever more frequently that “I need a drink “
I’m so glad I found Boom
And stopped to really think
So now at 100 days ( part 2)
Sobriety and self care
I found my path to you

Dear Wine,

Over time
Your symbolism has changed
From images of fun
To pictures of pain
And they can’t be unseen now
So don’t ask me again
Lots of my friends think you’re great still it’s true
But they just don’t know you like I do
And narcissists like you will never let go
Until they are ready
‘Cos they’re running the show
But I have decided that now, my foe
I’m the one letting go of you though
