If it wasn’t for Boom
I know I would drink again soon
It’s become an outlet for me
Where I feel understood
Instead of tired from being misunderstood
In my normal day to day life
I’ve found what works for me
A life of healing and being free
I would drink if I was happy
Lonely or bored even
But now I’ve found a new way to be
I’ve even found me
That I buried and hid
Beneath the deep dark place
That alcohol had led
To the depths of despair
There is no hope there
No light that shines bright
Only dim beyond the rim
Of that glass we drink
Looking for a way out
A release to feel free
But it’s a trap you see
Which we fall into
Because we don’t see
We think we are in control
We want to feel normal you know
Just like you
Who can drink a few
But perhaps we like it a bit too much than you
But now I see
What it does to me
And I can also see
What it does to others you see
Even more so now
It’s like a second sight
I see through you and I can see it too
If anyone’s going to help you
Make sure they know what it’s like
That’s my advice
To get free of a vice
The study of sobriety
Involves the practice not just the theory
It’s great to be free
Alcohol free
The Spirit is not in the Bottle it’s in You …
