Here is a thought for you if you are on day 3 sober or any other day from one to a thousand. Did you know that gardeners use alcohol to stunt the growth of plants so they don’t grow too tall? Alcohol stunted everything good in me! To think of going back to what stole my soul, my creativity…makes me cringe! Today I choose to grow! To flourish! I hope you will too. Don’t let that little voice trick you into thinking the weekend is the right time to drink! Drink as a reward? You never deserve a reward or treat that causes headaches, illnesses, and sadness! You deserve happiness and fulfilling your dreams!
Alcohol is a toxin and the only way to get out of the toxic cycle of drink – drunk – regret – repeat is to focus on the truth of you. Focus on the positive energy around you and in you. If you fight toxicity, with more toxicity, it just drags you down. If alcohol is a bully to you – turn your back on it and walk away with your head held high!

Day 3 sober, Teaching my inner child how to be happy alcohol free
I’m gonna let her decide
The little things anyway
Then she won’t feel so deprived
Ready to rage at me
Today we’re having a cupcake with coffee
Tonight I’ll pacify her with yogi tea
And a thrilling book
So she won’t give wine a second look
And today if the stress gets way too much
We’ll be tucked away cosily ignoring the fuss
My inner child wants me to take care of us
It’s up to me to teach her better ways
And earn her trust
I’ve bought her a few new presents aswell
To show her sober cool
She agrees I can tell
I need to explain to her we didn’t always drink wine
And remind her of good memories before that time
We used to sketch, make and bake
I need to give us a gentle shake
And teach her with love
That we’ve just had enough
Booze doesn’t do what we want it for
So her and I will close that door

A question to ponder on Day 3 sober- What does taking personal responsibility mean to you and how can you link it to alcohol, addiction and recovery?
For me, personal responsibility is about learning to deal with uncomfortable feelings not hiding from them or trying to squash them away by numbing out with alcohol.
Taking responsibility means not blaming anyone or any circumstance nor excusing with any external factors to yourself when it comes to drinking. Shit may drive you to drink but you don’t have to get out of the car and do it!
As cliche as it sounds, I think we first have to acknowledge and own that we indeed do have an addiction. Whatever that addiction looks like. There’s knowing and then there’s actually acknowledging it. I don’t think there’s a damn thing we can do about addiction for ourselves unless we acknowledge that it’s there.
If you’re “sober curious” …If you are drinking too much too often and want to stop or take a break… Talk to Us.
We are an independent, anonymous and private community who share resources, support and talk it through every day. It helps to have a community behind you in a world where alcohol is the only addictive drug that people will question you for NOT using

Don’t let the shame of the stigma keep you from saying
“I think I have a problem with drinking”

Loved the poem to your inner child. Use to be so creative myself and I am ready to clear my mind, body, and soul of the toxicity of alcohol
