Shutting Down
Read more: Shutting DownGood Morning All! So we’ve all commented on how our biggest trigger for drinking is the reward thing….. I’ve never been comfortable with using the word alcoholic to describe myself and I’ve never accepted the idea of alcoholism as a disease until now. By all definitions I am…

Drinking Gambrinus Dry
Read more: Drinking Gambrinus DryWhen I first retired from my long and illustrious drinking career, I realized that one of the things that was important to my staying happily dry was remembering why I used to love drinking. I needed to look back at my whole story from the beginning, not just focus on the end. I needed to…

Alcoholic Analogy: Pickles and Cucumbers
Read more: Alcoholic Analogy: Pickles and CucumbersThe following was written in 2015 as one of the first posts I shared in the process of blogging my way sober. I was about six weeks alcohol-free and found the “cucumber to pickle” alcoholic analogy helpful in explaining why I could not drink moderately ever again. If you’re drinking too much too often and…

Life is a Battlefield

Day 65 – Being rather than Doing.
Read more: Day 65 – Being rather than Doing. It’s a fascinating thing this Alcohol Free journey. Well two of my clients haven’t showed up today, so I am interpreting this as The Universe’s way of saying to me: “Pop your feet up love, and take some time to relax”. I’ve done some stretching, and some nice deep breathing, and now I think some…

“It was a random day of internet searching that brought me to Boozemusings Blog and to Boom Community, and my life has been changed by it. I needed some kind of “epiphany” for a mind change, and I have learned things about alcohol and its physical effects that have given me that kind of enlightenment. I check in several times a day and it is like meeting with my family. The resources here are incredible, and inexhaustible. I have quit lit books, etc. Will check out some of the other resources in others’ responses, but for me, Boom has been the answer. I feel it has to do with the tireless work of Boom’s creators. Thank you, Boom!!!!!!!”
