Did you decide to do a Sober September this year but are finding staying alcohol-free more difficult than you expected? Don’t Give Up! Join us for a Sober October. You just may find that with the right perspective it’s a pleasure to take some time alcohol-free. Alcohol-free IS Freedom.
“Freedom is not planning my social life around hangovers. Freedom is no longer not doing something because I knew I would drink too much the night before. It’s not waking up not knowing what I said or did the night before. Freedom is learning to trust myself again and not being chained to a poisonous high that wreaks havoc on my body. I love the freedom of getting to know me now that I am not tired and sick mentally and physically.“
from Is Sobriety a Drag or is it the Ultimate Freedom?
Think of Sobriety as a portal.
A portal into what? You name it.
All you can be. All you can do. Your best self, your peace of mind, your fulfillment, your health and longevity, your enjoyment of intimate relationships, your soul’s highest expression in this human vessel. This is the place you enter. This is the portal. This is the Way.
I totally advocate for EVERYONE to change how they are looking at the one dangerous, destructive drug we celebrate and market as the “elixer of happiness and joy.”
Think of yourself as a trailblazer, a pioneer, a way-maker. You can do this… we can do this … together. We can do anything together.
I’m staying joyously and gloriously sober today, let’s do this together.
from Sobriety is a Portal

Stopping drinking for a short detox like Sober October, or long term, starts much like working toward any goal. Set that goal then jump on board. Here are some words of inspiration from members of our community.
“We can change. We can change how we view alcohol and our relationship with it, the situations we walk into and how we respond to them, the way we respond to temptation, the way in which we articulate what we want and need to get through this.
We can direct our lives. We can grab the wheel and stop the swerve. We can delete from our lives that which does not serve us and what we want to achieve – the toxic relationships and behaviours.
My challenge for you today is take something in your life, anything, that needs or is worthy of fixing, changing or directing.
When we take hold of the reigns we generate a sense of power – a sense of control – and that in and of itself is a catalyst for change.
Be the change you want in your life.“
From If something’s not working for you, fix it, change it, direct it.
Decide!
“In reaching any goal, the first step is to decide you want to achieve it. No, I take that back. The first step is to DECIDE YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE IT. Make that decision absolute and non-negotiable. And don’t be interested in your goal, commit to it. As they saying goes, “if you’re interested, you’ll do what’s convenient. If you’re committed, you’ll do whatever it takes.”
If you want to be alcohol-free then DECIDE to be alcohol-free. Be ready to do whatever it takes to reach that goal. It won’t make the process easy, but it will make the process simple. Tomorrow night will be simple for me. I won’t drink. Period. I’m not feeling any stress or anxiety about the evening because I know it will end with me sober and snuggled up in my hotel bed, smile on my face, dreaming of the beautiful dawn just a few hours away.
The current version of me thinks THAT is a good time.”
