Why Can’t I Drink !?

Why Can't I Drink-No Sign with Wine Bottle and Glass

WHY CANT I DRINK LIKE EVERYONE ELSE??? – – a question that shouts in the minds of many of us at one time or another.

Why me!?!

It’s not fair!

Well, as I was making my coffee this morning it occurred to me that we are not the only ones who have to accept that we can not do something that others can. There are people all over the world who have to make peace with not being able to do something because it’s not ok for them.

Some put on weight at the thought of a cake when others can eat it everyday without effect.

Some can’t run when they’d love to because of their health issues.

Some can’t eat gluten or lactose because their body won’t accept it.

Hell, my dad has had to give up his beloved salads because his body can’t cope with raw veg!

My sister can’t wear perfume or drive in the dark because these things give her terrible migraines.

I know someone who can’t be close to his kids when they’re sick because of his dangerously low immunity.

These are just a few examples off the top of my head. Things which technically people could do but have to chose to Not do because it is not ok for them.

We are not alone. And for us, we can’t tolerate what is essentially a Poison. Something that wrecks lives. Not perhaps because our body can’t accept it, but because it is bad for our Life! And the lives of those around us.

So is our ‘poor me’ feeling really justified?

Not really is it.

Poor me- I can’t pour toxins into my body daily.

Poor me- I am resigned to forever waking up without a hangover.

Poor me- I will always have a clear head.

Poor me- I am prolonging the health of my liver.

Poor me- I will have to find something else to spend my money on.

Poor me- I won’t have to live with anxiety and depression caused by drinking.

Poor me- I now have the opportunity to grow and blossom as a person.

I think we are lucky. Even if we don’t feel it right now.
