Russ and Trev’s Guide to a Sober September

Have you decided to give Sober September a try? Russ and Trev are our Boom Rethink the Drink community experts on taking a break from the booze, and they’d like to invite you to join us for our Sober-September challenge.
Here are Russ and Trev’s thoughts on what 30 days alcohol-free can do for you!

Do you remember when you first tried a beer or a glass of wine? Maybe you were just a kid and shocked at how horrible that brew tasted. I remember my first beer, my first tiny glass of wine, and my first shot of Southern Comfort. All three tasted toxic.

Everyone says that alcoholic beverages are an acquired taste. It takes time for most of us to learn to enjoy a stiff drink. The thing about alcohol though is that once you’ve developed a taste for it, it starts to develop a taste for you! Have you ever heard the saying “You take a drink, the drink takes a drink and then the drink takes you”? Sober challenges like Sober September are a great way to start taking yourself back!

But 30 consecutive days alcohol-free can be a challenge! Smooth sailing through Sober September starts with understanding HALT.
Understanding HALT:
You can cut to the chase by reading this article about HALT HALT โ 4 Triggers That Slip People Up When They Stop Drinking. Or Trev will help by spelling it out for you.

HALT.
H – Hungry
A- Angry
L- Lonely
