When the Light Comes On
Read more: When the Light Comes OnI never Imagined that Quitting Alcohol Would Bring so Much Light to my Life! I don’t know exactly when I began to think about my drinking, but it was a long time ago. By thinking about my drinking, I mean thinking it was a problem. I certainly thought about it when I drove home from…

Join us in Discussing “Women Rowing North” by Mary Pipher
Read more: Join us in Discussing “Women Rowing North” by Mary PipherI randomly picked up Women Rowing North by Mary Pipher, at Goodwill one day last year. “Women Rowing North” caught my attention for two reasons. First, Mary Pipher’s book Reviving Ophelia was very important to me when it came out in the 1990s. It is all about the experiences of adolescent girls in their search…

600 Days Sober and FREE!
Read more: 600 Days Sober and FREE!600 Days Sober! I have spent over 600 days with zero alcohol in my body and mind, and I feel so FREE! It does surprise me, though, that even at 600 days sober, I still have strong euphoric recall. Bouts of grief still pop up and make me rethink everything about living life alcohol-free, but…

It’s Radical to be Sober!
Read more: It’s Radical to be Sober!I remember Prof. David Nutt, the UK’s government advisor on drugs, proving that alcohol is more harmful (and addictive) than most other drugs. He was fired immediately. People don’t like the truth. If you look at the statistics, alcohol is responsible for far more deaths annually than LSD and ecstasy. Alcohol is responsible for more…

“It was a random day of internet searching that brought me to Boozemusings Blog and to Boom Community, and my life has been changed by it. I needed some kind of “epiphany” for a mind change, and I have learned things about alcohol and its physical effects that have given me that kind of enlightenment. I check in several times a day and it is like meeting with my family. The resources here are incredible, and inexhaustible. I have quit lit books, etc. Will check out some of the other resources in others’ responses, but for me, Boom has been the answer. I feel it has to do with the tireless work of Boom’s creators. Thank you, Boom!!!!!!!”
