The Quiet Storm of Self that Emerged When I Quit Drinking
Read more: The Quiet Storm of Self that Emerged When I Quit DrinkingI drank to treat myself, to express myself, and soothe myself, but when I put down the wine I was doing it to save my life. Self-care, self-awareness, and self-realization are not what I expected to find when I stopped drinking, I just stopped because I had to. I was drinking considerably more than the…

What’s Your Secret to Sobriety?
Read more: What’s Your Secret to Sobriety?Sometimes we need a gentle nudge to remind ourselves that the path towards sobriety is uniquely ours, like our fingerprints. With ridges, whorls, and loops, your fingerprints are unique to you and can’t be duplicated by me. And whilst you may try to imitate my fingerprints, they are mine alone and not for sale. To…

Sparking Joy in the Mundane
Read more: Sparking Joy in the MundaneAt the end of the day, our approach to life and everything in it is a matter of perspective. We can, if we put our minds to it, make anything into an excuse to drink, or not to. We can, if we put our minds to it, either seek joy in a sober life or…

Perspective from Two Years Alcohol – Free
Read more: Perspective from Two Years Alcohol – FreeToday I’m celebrating two years of alcohol-free life. In that time I experienced my best friend’s death, the effects of withdrawal from years of benzodiazepine dependence, major surgery, and the upheavals of a world-wide pandemic. And as hard as many of these events were and continue to be, I’m proud that I got through them…

Sobriety is NOT a Punishment- You Can Do it Just for Today
Read more: Sobriety is NOT a Punishment- You Can Do it Just for TodayIt can feel almost impossible to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get moving with a commitment to stop drinking. Yet. I – Try Again Today
Read more: Yet. I – Try Again TodayWhen I was drinking… When I was drinking there was truly only one soul in this world that understood how alcohol was eroding my health. There were certainly plenty of people around that witnessed my behavior. However, only one person wrestled with me every morning about my drinking habits: me. It was me that woke…

What Does it Really Take to Quit Drinking?
Read more: What Does it Really Take to Quit Drinking? The best decision I ever made was the final decision to quit drinking, which, for me, took tons of bravery, a lot of work, a little education, some mental and emotional strength, unrelenting patience, a strong commitment, community, and a whole bunch of self-compassion. I actually made the decision to quit many times before it…

The Day 1 Dilemma
Read more: The Day 1 DilemmaWhen I say to you that I couldn’t tell you how many Day 1s I have had, I mean it. Some of those Day 1s have been one in a string of 40 Day 1s. Some have been the first Day 1 after 700+ days of sobriety. Whether you are trying to achieve sobriety for…

“It was a random day of internet searching that brought me to Boozemusings Blog and to Boom Community, and my life has been changed by it. I needed some kind of “epiphany” for a mind change, and I have learned things about alcohol and its physical effects that have given me that kind of enlightenment. I check in several times a day and it is like meeting with my family. The resources here are incredible, and inexhaustible. I have quit lit books, etc. Will check out some of the other resources in others’ responses, but for me, Boom has been the answer. I feel it has to do with the tireless work of Boom’s creators. Thank you, Boom!!!!!!!”
