Have you ever wondered if you’re an alcoholic? But you know that you’re too high functioning to be that? Do you need to stop drinking or just maybe slow down?
Do you drink alone?
Do you crave a drink when you got home?
Do you drink to control your emotional state?
Do you get annoyed if you have to wait?
Does that mean that you’re an alcoholic?
Just because…..
Just because you don’t drink all the time
Whether it be beer, spirits or wine
Doesn’t mean you haven’t crossed the social drinking line
Just because you don’t drink every day
Doesn’t mean addiction isn’t at play
It’s easy to deny
Convenient to try
To continue to justify
But unbeknownst to you
It could be a lie
Are you an Almost Alcoholic?

Recent thinking looks at grey area drinking
Alcoholism is the tip of the iceberg you know
And the rest of it doesn’t really show
But it’s there
Damaging people’s lives
But they either don’t realise
Or don’t care
When you were drinking did you drink alone?
Did you crave a drink when you got home?
Did you drink to control your emotional state?
Did you get annoyed if you had to wait?
If the answer to these questions is yes
They are red flags I bet
You might not be in the danger zone yet
But if you continued you could be in a mess
The mild addiction could easily progress
Does it really matter if you’re an alcoholic?
I think
Even if you could hold your drink
Go to work every day
Have no blackouts
Feel somewhat ok
There could still be a problem it would be in your best interests to address?
Time to take stock and Rethink the Drink?
